My dad felt bad for not doing stuff with me after I moved out I guess so we decided to take a day to drive up to Des Moines to see Turnstile. To be completely honest neither of us really listened to them, but Jane Remover was one of the openers and I really really really wanted to see her live.
There were two dudes in front of me recording her set on an old camcorder but I haven't been able to find the footage online or anything so I don't know if it was just personal or not.
She went first so for the rest of the time I was kind of blind so to speak as I didn't have any clue what the songs being played were but I still had a great time. I got to mosh a bunch so that was fun. The mosh pit during the Speed set was actually insane. My favorite artist besides Jane that played was Mannequin Pussy.
I really liked this one song they played that come to find out is called "Loud Bark". The refrain of the song goes like "I got a loud bark, deep bite", but for some reason during the show I thought she was saying "I am a lovelorn teen boy". Idk why those are the words that my brain put together.
I felt kind of bad that my dad paid for the tickets and everything but we weren't even together the whole time anad it was more of my jam, but he said he still had fun. They had food trucks in the back lawn area too which definitely helped swing the night in his favor. If there is one thing to know about my father it is that he loves food trucks. I don't know why he paid for both tickets when the year before we went to a different concert and he made me pay for my ticket then. Maybe it's cuz I lived on my own and had to pay bills and rent and shit?
Anyways the next day we went to the Iowa state capitol building and it was pretty cool. A lot smaller than the Kansas capitol building but it was gold which was interesting.
