It's been a little while since I've updated here. To be honest for most of that time not much has been happening. I finished out my last two weeks at work, which both went fine. I'm glad to be done with it all. I still sometimes think about the people there and feel bad that I had to leave them like that, but I do truly believe I had to for my own sake. I could've done it for the rest of my life if I wanted to, but I would've come to hate myself more than the baseline amount that I already do and would have fantisized about what could've been if I did pursue other things. I'm not sure if this whole college thing will work out, but at least I can say I did try.
Speaking of college, today is the first day of classes. My first class (and only class of the day) is in and hour and a half. I left much earlier than I had to, but also I needed to go out of my way to grab things from the store for classes in the coming days and I grabbed lunch and I stopped by this like poster sale thing for students. It all didn't take nearly as long as I predicted so now I'm typing this up in the library by the hall where by class is in order to waste time. I am somewhat nervous, most of all for the fact that I'm leaving in a week for a week long trip that has been planned for longer than I knew I was going back to school. I'm sure it will probably be ok, but I just don't want to get off on the wrong foot or antything. I maybe should've tried to email the professors ahead of time, but to be honest I didn't know who to email for some classes or what so I just decided to wait to tell them in person after my first class. Regardless of how it works out I'll have to miss the classes anyways so if it reflects on my academic record so be it. It's only a week.
I'm probably not as rested as I should be. I've been awake since about 1am, but I still did get 6ish hours of sleep as I took a nap around 7pm yesterday that became much longer than I anticipated. Then the night before I stayed over at a friend's dorm on campus and only got 4ish hours of sleep so my biological clock is all fucked up. I at least got chores and things done this morning but I do wish I could've gone back to sleep a least for a couple hours. I hope I can get things back on track tonight.
This weekend was a lot of fun with all the events and things that happened on campus and off. I went to go see the new Jane Schoenbrun film with my aforementioned friend on Friday. We both thought it was really great. I spent pretty much the whole weekend together. I got to know his roommate a bit, who is quite the odd fellow. My friend doesn't like him much either, in fact he dislikes him much more than me. I didn't mind him a first, but quickly it became apparent that he is a very privledged person with very well off parents, which isn't a horrible thing in and of itself, but the way that he takes it for granted is what bugged me. Although I suppose many people here will be like that. I geuss I am the odd one out in that aspect. He's also perhaps a white supremacist neo-nazi of some sort, or at least expressed reverence for a certain white supremacist neo-nazi "comedian". I don't think he entirely harbors the same views, but he definitely is one to downplay the seriousness of it all.
Anyways, I only really saw him when we hungout in the dorm Saturday night. Even then he went to bed before me or my friend so I didn't have to put up with him for that long thankfully. Mostly me and my friend just watched movies and showed each other weird stuff online. I showed him this website. He's the first person I've made aware of this. I've always considered it a personal project, but now it has at least one set of eyes on it (although I'm not sure he will ever check it out again). We went to this festival thing at the student union, which was a lot more robust than I expected. There was a lot of free food and carnival rides and prizes and all kinds of things. I also saw several people I knew (5 to be exact), which I was not anticipating, but was indeed happy about. I hope to see some of them again soon and hopefully make new relationships. However, I am partially worried that will not happen. I suppose we will see. I also signed up to be a DJ at the radio station so perhaps that will prove somewhat fruitful on the relationship front.
My (really one and only) friend has a class at the same time in the same hall as me today, just two doors down. We'll probably hang a little afterwards, but I don't know how much really. I get the feeling he might be getting sick of me after spending the whole weekend together. We were together most of the day yesterday too going to all the academic welcomes and things. He dropped me off at my house at like 3 or 4 and soon after I fell asleep. He has a much more extroverted personality than I do and is much more capable and willing to make friends, so I feel that after long he will view me as some kind of burden or as overly clingy or something. That's probably just me overthinking it all though. As I tolf him yesterday I have recently come to the conclusion that everything will work out for me, although now that I've said it outloud I feel like my luck is soon to turn. That's all for now I guess. I still have probably like an hour left before I should head to class so who knows what I'm going to do.
